I recently did a model portfolio shoot in Chicago with the lovely Alex. Her and I scuttled about to various points of the windy city to take in the city lights, city vibe and we met some interesting characters all along the way.
We started out during 'golden hour' at the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk. We were waiting for the sun to go down to capture a night cityscape from within the "honeycomb" structure that gives a gorgeous view of the city. We even got to view an outside dance class as we waited. Gotta love the city!!

On our way to the Nature Boardwalk we also stumbled upon the True Vintage store and I had to have a shot of Alex in front of their display window.

When it finally got dark and the blue hour came, we noticed that the John Hancock building was lit up in pride colors as Alex vogued it up underneath the honeycomb.

Alex changed into a Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd tee shirt as we took shots atop a bridge and then moved into the city streets.

The bars and the restaurants up north gave us a cool city vibe as Alex seduced the camera. We moved from the open sidewalk to the neon of a local convenience story to the entrance of a classy wine bar.

One of my favorite backdrops ended up being this funky convenience store in Lincoln Park with their over the top signage.

Alex opted for a high fashion look as we made our way to the Gold Coast area of the city and then eventually some alleyway shots on State Street.

One of our final shots of the evening was atop the Wabash St. bridge overlooking the Chicago River. All of the tourist were tucked away for the night and we had it (mostly) to ourselves.

So what can night portraits be useful for? Certainly these would make for some cool and unique senior pictures. Night portraits can also set you apart for publicity photos like in the Creative Professionals Package and would make a great addition to a model's portfolio as well. No matter the use, be sure to fill out the Contact Form to set up a consultation and we can plan out your portrait session - day or night.
