This past June I once again covered the Hunt and Gather Pop Up Market at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Part of my job as an the event photographer for H&G is to tell the story of what this shopping experience of vintage goods is all about.
There is such a wide array of interesting products at the popular destination ranging from antique goods via shops from the downtown Crown Point Square and all around Northwest Indiana, to vintage clothing, comic book collectables, natural soap, artwork and more.
Hunt and Gather takes over the Industrial Building in the Spring, Summer and Fall with large crowds attending to be the first to grab the creative items on display. Food and drink is also served along with music in a makeshift dining area for those who need to chill.
I saw shoppers walking out with large pieces of handcrafted wood furniture in addition to Real Soap while artists painted and drew live as an audience watched.
The massive scale event is organized by Carey of the Old Green Shutter shop in the Crown Point Square. We flagged her down for a quick shot with one of her co-organizers. One of the other key sponsors of the "World's Greatest Collection of Creativity" are the designers at Wooden Jacket who make the very cool shopping bag handed out to attendees.
The next Hunt and Gather takes place in the Fall of 2014. You can call (219) 663-4425 for ticket information.
