Northwest Indiana Portrait and Event Photography Blog:

My studio and on location photography is meant to be an alternative to the big box retailers. I want to deliver high quality portraits to you minus cheesy backdrops, forced smiles and a rushed atmosphere.

The studio is a full fledged and spacious professional set up with backdrops, a private changing room and bathroom. There is a  viewing room for after the shoot  image review.  I book by appointment only.  It is a residential studio so there are no lines and no on lookers.

I'd love to discuss your next portrait session.  Contact me via the methods listed below.

The Importance of Business Head Shots

February 19, 2014 in Corporate Head Shots

So many people start new businesses every year only to see them fail.  They put a ton of work into the launch of their new endeavor.  They print brochures, update their Link'd In profiles and set up websites.  Very often the phone doesn't ring or it doesn't ring often enough.  Some entreprenuers throw in the towel or start reducing their rates in a desperate attempt to compete.

We are a visual society and very often decisions are made upon looks and presentation alone.  While I wholeheartedly believe that word of mouth referrals are the be all, end all of success.  However, to win over a new client or new employer, you have to look the part in real life as well as on your website and promotional materials.

The image above demonstrates a fitness instructor.  Same great smile in each image, but I'd be more inclined to hire my personal trainer based upon the professional image on the left as opposed to the candid, hanging out with friends image on the opposite side.  This philosophy also applies to those in the job market looking to work for an established company.  I can't tell you how many Link'd In profiles I've seen where no picture has been uploaded or it's one taken by a friend.  If that is you, you are going get passed by.

Singer / songwriter Steve Rempis (upper left) came into the studio looking for images for the launch of his now popular songwriting podcast.  He chose the Creative Professionals session as it offered environmental full length images as well as head shots.  We needed to convey rock and roll cool as well as Nashville friendly.  Marketing major Elise P. at the top right was in recently for images to showcase for her online presence to potential employers.  She opted for the simpler professional head shot session to help her compete in today's job market.

Graphic designer Melissa R. needed to showcase a casual, yet professional image for her freelance business.  Business owner Keith Johnson is a determined seasoned pro when it comes to his DJ Enterprise - Hire Power Entertainment and this shows in his head shot.

Hopefully my own headshot will tell you that when you come in for your session, you are getting a photographer who is friendly and who cares enough to listen to your needs.  Contact me today and let me know you're story.  I will guide you as to what is the best option for your professional presence in this visual world of ours.
